What we collect when you use this site or send us an enquiry, and what we do with it.

Who we are
UK Commutators is a trading name of Stratos Consultants Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 07279650. Registered office and business address: Rosedale Studios, Rosedale Road, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 2SX. Stratos Consultants Limited is the data controller for the information described here. What we collect
- Enquiries and quotes: your name, company, email address, the measurements, drawings, data sheets and photos you send, and your message. Drawings and photos are stored privately on our server, not published, and shared only with the factory making your part.
- Orders: the above plus delivery address, VAT number if given, and the bank transfer details shown on your payment.
- Email: the content of the conversation and your email address.
- Website use: standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages visited).
Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry and quote for the part you need (legitimate interest, or steps before a contract)
- To make, deliver and invoice your order and honour the warranty (contract)
- To keep accounting records (legal obligation; six years)
- To keep the site secure (legitimate interest)
We do not sell your information and we do not send marketing emails unless you have asked for them.
Who we share it with
Our manufacturing partners receive the technical details of the part (drawings, measurements, photos, OEM numbers) but not your name or contact details, and we remove your company name and job references from drawings before they go. Couriers receive your name, address and phone number to deliver. Our accountant and IT providers see data only as needed to do their jobs: Replit (website hosting), Resend (enquiry notifications), our email provider and our bank.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become orders: 12 months. Orders and invoices: six years after the tax year, as HMRC requires.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to our using it. Email sales@ukcommutators.co.uk. If you are unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
