How ordering works
No price list, no basket. Just a firm price for your part.
Every commutator is made to order, so you tell us what you need and we come back with a firm price in pounds within 2 working days. Nothing is made, and nothing is charged, until you accept the quote.
Send the details
Use the quote form or email sales@ukcommutators.co.uk: a drawing, or the old part's measurements and two photos, plus the quantity and whether it is urgent. No original part needed.
We reply within one working day
We confirm we have your request and ask for anything missing. If a dimension looks wrong, we say so now rather than make the wrong part.
Firm price within 2 working days
In pounds, ex and inc VAT, delivery included, with the standard lead time (4 to 5 weeks by sea) and the urgent option (faster by air). Large commutators can take up to 5 working days to price. Quotes are valid for 30 days.
Accept and pay the pro-forma
Reply to accept and we send a pro-forma invoice, payable by bank transfer. The part goes into production as soon as it is paid.
Made and delivered
Delivered tracked to your door with a UK VAT invoice and a 12-month warranty.

Why we quote every part
Commutators vary in segment count, diameter, bore, riser and slot sizes, and most are made for one machine. Quoting each part means the price reflects your exact commutator, and the lead time is real rather than a guess.
Questions, answered
Can I buy a commutator online?
No. Every commutator is made to order to your measurements or drawing, so we price each one individually. Send the details through the quote form and we come back with a firm price within 2 working days.
How long does a quote take?
We reply to every enquiry within one working day. A firm price usually follows within 2 working days, or up to 5 working days for large or unusual commutators. If we need a measurement checked, we ask straight away rather than guess.
How do I pay?
When you accept the quote we send a pro-forma invoice, payable by bank transfer. Production starts once it is paid, and you receive the VAT invoice when the part is dispatched.
Do you need the old commutator?
No. A drawing, or the old part's dimensions and two photos (end on and side on), is enough. The measuring guide shows what to measure.
What is included in the price?
The commutator, import VAT and duty, and tracked delivery to your UK address. There is nothing to pay on arrival. Urgent air freight, if you choose it, is quoted separately so you can compare.
Can I change or cancel an order?
Before you pay the pro-forma, yes, at no cost. Once production has started the part is being made to your specification, so it can only be changed if the factory has not yet started that step. Ask us and we will check.
